Tall Tales

Tall Tales brought together the work of 18 international women artists who employ the playful use of storytelling techniques in the making of their work. The programme was curated and produced by Liz Wewiora and Helen Wewiora, along with assistant curators Charlie Booth and Emma Flynn and marked the first time Charlie and Liz would work together.

The national touring exhibition launched in London at Freud Museum London, Swiss Cottage Gallery and Library and the Tavistock Clinic, then toured to Touchstones Rochdale, Lancashire, before culminating at Glasgow Women’s Library in Scotland. The programme included an online writing commission with Akerman Daly. A new socially engaged project was also developed with local communities in each touring area, resulting in a new textiles work donated to the Glasgow Women’s Library archive.

Artists included: Alinah Azadeh, Ruth Barker, Nicky Bird, Jacqueline Butler, Sharon Campbell, Beth Collar, Alison Erika Forde, Sarah Forrest, Rachel Goodyear, Oona Grimes, Margarete Berger-Hamserchlag, Lila De Malgalhaes, Joanna Peace, Laure Prouvost, Ma Qiusha, Lauren Sagar, Mirjam Somers and Nina Yuen.
