Together we move

Together We Move was a programme of responsive events and exhibitions, celebrating ambitious new film and sound work, Everything I Have Is Yours by Eileen Simpson and Ben White (Open Music Archive). The work looked back to the first decade of the UK pop charts (1952-62). Working with a group of older musicians – the ‘original teenagers’ of the Greater Manchester music scene, now in their 70s and 80s – the film focused on this diverse group as they re-engaged with public-domain samples from the formative era, incorporating these timeless sounds into new musical creations.

As the Engagement and Audience Development producer, Liz collaborated with the musical protagonists and a broader group of Over60s from across Greater Manchester, to co-devise and deliver the public programme, Together We Move, including a live stage event at Manchester International Festival Square.

Liz also invited local artists Sally Gilford and Ben McDonnel to work with participants to further engage with music and visual culture from the era. This led to the creation of additional new work, a reflective zine and shop products at Salford Museum and Art Gallery.

Together We Move was commissioned by Salford Art Collection, University of Salford, Castlefield Gallery, Salford Museum and Art Gallery and Film Video Umbrella.
